The Falasteen Cap

Designer / Illustrator Personal Project Year: Ongoing

In Support of Palestine and the ongoing occupation.

After the Six-Day War in 1967, the Israeli government imposed a nearly 30-year ban on public displays of the Palestinian flag.
In response, Palestinians ingeniously turned to watermelons, whose red, green, white, and black colours, when sliced, mirrored the flag’s design.

Inspired by this symbol of resistance and identity, we designed a cap to honour this powerful emblem.

More than just a fashion statement; the cap embodied unity, love, and hope. By wearing it, we hope people join a global movement dedicated to spreading awareness and showing support for the people of Gaza and Palestine, making a statement of solidarity and compassion for those enduring hardship.

The cap featured the word ‘Falasteen’ embroidered onto the crown, which means Palestine in Arabic. Crafted from 100% cotton twill, it included an adjustable strap with a metal buckle at the rear, ensuring a perfect fit for everyone.

Our initial run was limited to 100 pieces.

Supporting Gaza’s Children

All profits from the sale of the cap was directed to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF). This organisation plays a crucial role in delivering essential medical and humanitarian aid to children in Gaza suffering from the ongoing genocide. The PCRF provides life-saving medical treatment through specialized surgeries and procedures otherwise inaccessible in the region. They also organise medical missions, bringing in volunteer doctors and medical professionals from around the world to provide much-needed care and training to local staff.

Additionally, the PCRF offers critical support services such as mental health programs to help children cope with the trauma of living in a conflict zone, as well as rehabilitation and physical therapy for those injured by the violence. By purchasing this cap, you are not only showing your support but also directly contributing to these vital initiatives. Your contribution helps to alleviate the immense suffering faced by these vulnerable children, providing them with hope, healing, and a chance for a better future.
